To help raise £1m of capital for the Royal British Legion, the company purchased four semi-detached houses from them in Aylesford, near Maidstone.
“We were pleased to be able to support the RBLI”, said Kentstone’s Danielle Lee. “They were looking to raise capital to modernise their employment facilities for veterans in need of welfare and support. At the same time, it gave us the opportunity to continue to improve the quality of our stock. Having invested several million pounds in one and two bedroom flats over the last decade, we wanted to increase our supply of housing suitable for young families to rent on affordable terms.”
These three bedroom homes are conveniently located for shops and schools as well as Maidstone Hospital, run by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, which has over 8,000 staff at their sites in Maidstone and Pembury. The purchase completed in the spring, in time to benefit from the multiple dwellings relief on SDLT before it was abolished in June 2024. The properties were refurbished over the course of the summer and let to key workers with young families.
